Rock, Paper, Scissors...

Let's take a look at the unique tools that InfusionSoft has to offer that will help automate your business processes. Let's make up a fictitious business. We'll call the business, "Rock-Paper-Scissors Online." Rock-Paper-Scissor Online's core mission is to supply the vast roshambo community (take a look at www.worldrps.com if you think I'm making this up) with educational materials to improve their roshambo skills. Rock-Paper-Scissors Olnine wants to create an online presence with an opt-in mailing list and an order form (sales letter) that offers a Book and a DVD with hints and tips on how to play roshambo like the pros. When they purchase the DVD, they are automatically enrolled in my monthly webinar program for 12.95/month.

The Automated Marketing Follow Up Sequence

The first thing I want to do is create a marketing campaign. The object of this campaign is distribute relevant roshambo material and try to push the client to my order form. Here is how the campaign will work:

  1. Immediately send out a personalized "Thank You" email when the person signs up
  2. Send out the first email 2 days later with tips and hints on how to improve roshambo skills.
  3. Email #2 goes out 3 days later
  4. Email #3 goes out 4 days later
  5. Email #4 goes out 5 days later
  6. etc...
In each of these marketing emails, I have a link to my order form. When someone clicks the link, they are taken to a sales letter checkout page (SSL encrypted of course) that will ask them for their credit card information so they can purchase the product. This link to my shopping cart is a "trackable link", meaning I can track these clicks automatically, so I know from which Newsletter email they came from. This way I can see which Newsletter (or sales landing page) gives me the most lead to client conversions.

The Opt-In Form (Web Form)

Secondly, I want to create a newsletter opt-in form that will capture a name and email address. This is done quickly by hovering over the "Setup" link in InfusionSoft and choosing "Add Web Form." Now, there are just a few options I need to set. First, I need to determine what fields I want to capture on the form. For my form, I want to capture first name and email address. Second, I want to send myself an email notifying me every time a new lead signs up for the newsletter. The next 2 steps are vital to creating a successful opt-in form:

  1. I want to set the option to add the person to a contact group. I'll call the group "Website Opt-Ins"...Now, every time a person signs up for my newsletter, they will be added to the "Website Opt-ins" contact group. This way, I can segment these contacts from the rest of the contacts in the database.
  2. The next step is obvious, I want to add the person to the Newsletter Marketing Campaign I created. This is done with a few mouse clicks.
Once I have configured these options and saved my changes, InfusionSoft will automatically generate the necessary web form HTML code I need to post on my site. Done.

The Order Form (Sales Letter)

The order form is simple to construct and is hosted securely on InfusionSoft servers. I simply hover over the "Setup" button again and choose to "Add Order Form." Now, I select the product I want to sell and the recurring program they will be added to. I'll choose to give them a 30-day free trial for the recurring program. Now I just edit the order form to look like I want it -and I'm done! One more thing though...I want to remove them from the campaign they are currently in and add them to a different one (I don't want to keep trying to sell them something they already bought.) I'll now add them to a new marketing campaign that tries to sell them on my other products.

Business Automation (the really cool stuff)

The next thing I want to set up are order triggers. I want two triggers:

  1. I want a trigger that notifies me if their credit card fails after 3 retries of the recurring program. In fact, I want a whole campaign devoted to this that notifies the client via email with my business phone number.
  2. I want a trigger that notifies the client 15 days before their credit card is going to expire and to notify me 5 days before it expires.

You wouldn't believe how many business forget these vital pieces of follow up or simply shrug their shoulders because they don't have the time or personell to manually pull failed autocharge reports. This should be an automated business function!

Conclusion...

By using the automated tools provided by InfusionSoft, we were able to put Rock-Paper-Scissors' entire business model online in just a few minutes. This example is typical, but simplistic. This scenario doesn't even "scratch the surface" on InfusionSoft's full capabilities. To find out how InfusionSoft can automate your business, take a look at the LIVE DEMO
